Fined for dumping debris

Bangalore: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Wednesday seized five lorries which were dumping building debris into the Vrushabhavati Valley and slapped a fine of Rs. 20,000 on vehicle owners.
BBMP Joint Commissioner (South) V. Yashwanth in a statement said that action would be taken against all those who dump waste material into valleys and storm water drains. The officer had said that dumping of such materials was affecting smooth flow of storm water during rains and thus resulting in water logging in many areas.
He said that stringent action would be taken against people who dump construction materials on pavements and roadside drains.
