HYDERABAD: MedPlus, a chain of medical stores, with presence in 12 cities including metros such as Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore, proposes to go public next year, besides expanding its operations to over 1,000 stores across the country. It is also launching integrated health centres (IHCs) comprising a family clinic, diagnostic lab and pharmacy under one roof. While 10 such IHCs will come up here, the company will extend them to Chennai, Bangalore and Pune next month. Addressing a press conference here recently, Madhukar Gangadi, Chief Executive Officer, said the company would equip every store with a clinic and also a pathology laboratory. It would add 100 IHCs every month in the next 10-12 months, mostly in the franchisee model. The attached clinic would typically have a general physician, a paediatrician and a gynaecologist. The doctors would not work full-time, and would not pay any rental to MedPlus for conducting consultancy services from these outlets. The stores’ discounts — five per cent to regular customers and 10 per cent to senior citizens — caught up well with the people. A significant number of people were also making use of the call centre and home delivery facilities. The company wanted to expand through opening Integrated Health Centres in the franchisee model wherever possible.
