18 goods sheds to work round-the-clock

CHENNAI: Eighteen goods sheds in Southern Railway will work round-the-clock from April 1. The move followed the Railway Board’s directive to introduce 24- hour working at major goods sheds which are dealing with 10 rakes or more a month. The following goods sheds will work round-the-clock: Korukkupet and Salt Cotaurs (Chennai Division); Kudal Nagar and Tirunelveli ( Madurai); Kallayi, Valapattinam and West Hill (Palghat); Coimbatore North, Salem, Salem Market, Tirupur and Pilamedu (Salem); Tiruchi Goods Yard (Tiruchi); and Alwaye, Ernakulam Marshalling Yard, Kottayam, Quilon, and Kalamacherri (Trivandrum), says a railway release.
