THRISSUR: Minister for Revenue K. P. Rajendran has said the State Government will seek Rs.50 crore from the Centre for providing assistance to farmers affected by crop loss in summer rain in various parts of the State. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the Minister said the extent of agriculture loss in Alappuzha, Kottayam and Thrissur districts was being assessed. “Preliminary assessment reveals that these districts suffered agriculture loss of Rs.25 crore. The actual loss is much more. Loss assessment will be completed in a few days. An assistance of Rs.12 crore, announced by the State Cabinet on Tuesday, will be given to farmers soon.”
