‘Tycoon’ awards for BITS boys

JAIPUR: BITSians Nishith Rastogi of the Goa campus and Abhishek Humbad of the Pilani campus have been crowned the winner and first runner-up, respectively, of “Tycoons 2008 under 25”, a national competition organised by Career Launcher.

The competition identified the “Tycoons” by assessing the participants’ wit and intelligence, managerial and communication skills and also their competence in cultural and outdoor activities.

The first stage of the search for India’s Tycoon under the age of 25 was held across 116 cities with more than 225,000 participating. The second stage was a regional final comprising extempore speech, role-plays and debates. The third stage comprised a three-day physical round near Rishikesh where the 48 national finalists had a range of activities including rafting, trekking, mountain climbing, river crossing and also performing at a cultural night.

The final stage at MDI, Gurgaon, consisted of ad-making ideation and planning and also case studies. There was also a leadership summit at MDI, Gurgaon, for the national finalists.

This summit included a panel discussion on topics such as public policy, sports, art and culture, media, rural transformation and education. The top three winners got 100 per cent scholarship on tuition fees to a post-graduate programme of their choice, an education pilgrimage to a top B-school anywhere in the world and a laptop and attractive cash prizes.
