Rajnath accuses Congress of misrule

Staff Correspondent

BETUL: Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh said here on Thursday that after Independence the Congress had failed to honour the sacrifices of the great revolutionaries and freedom fighters who brought freedom to the country. The BJP president was addressing a "Jan-ashirvad" rally. Originally planned as a party workers’ rally, it took the shape of an election rally now that the Election Commission has announced a by-election to fill the Betul Lok Sabha seat, which is lying vacant due to the demise of the BJP MP, Vijay Kumar Khandelwal. Mr. Singh said other countries which gained independence along with India six decades ago are now counted as developed nations whereas India could not march on the path of speedy progress as the Congress has been at the helm of affairs for long. “People still remember the time when Mr. Vajpayee was the Prime Minister. In sharp contrast, prices always soar whenever the Congress comes to power,” he charged.
