Displaced persons block road

KORAPUT: Members of the HAL Displaced Persons’ Association staged a road blockade on the national highway near Sunabeda in Koraput district for more than four hours on Thursday in protest against non-fulfilment of their long-pending demands.

Besides seeking proper compensation, they were demanding employment to at least two members in each of the displaced families, return of unutilised land occupied by the company to the tribals and extension of free health and education facilities.

Though the blockade was lifted after getting an invitation from the management for discussion, association president Trilochan Muduli said they would launch another agitation soon as the talks had failed.
