MLA draws flak at Telangana meet

Staff Reporter

Accuses Nalgonda MLA of trying to stall meet

‘Participants coming in a jeep attacked by rivals at Rajapet’

MLA refuses to react on allegations against him

TIPPARTHY (NALGONDA DT.): Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Congress MLA representing Nalgonda constituency came in for sharp criticism at the launch of the padayatra being undertaken by the former DCC general secretary Dubbaka Narasimha Reddy and others here on Thursday.

Addressing a well-attended meeting in the presence of balladeer Gadar and leaders of the Telangana Aikya Karyacharana Committee, Mr. Reddy alleged that the MLA had tried his best to prevent the party activists from attending the meeting.

Proposed meet

Mr.Gadar also took part in the march, christened the ‘Telangana Aatmagourava Padayatra’, which would join the proposed meeting of the Congress seniors at Bhongir on March 24.

“A jeep that was bringing party workers to the public meeting was attacked by our rivals at Rajapet. They attempted to kill my supporter,” Mr. Reddy alleged.

A couple of speakers told the gathering the hardships they faced to attend the meeting.

They charged the MLA with using muscle power to silence his opponents. Though the meeting was held to mark the launch of the padayatra pressing for a separate State, there were slogans against Mr. Venkat Reddy.

A good number of Telangana Rastra Samiti leaders also took part in the programme.

Mr. Narasimha Reddy said that certain Congress leaders had changed their stance on the Telangana only to serve their self interests.

Active part

He called upon the people of the region to take an active part in the Telangana movement by setting aside their political affiliations for the bright future of the next generation.

Earlier the songs and dances of the Telangana Samskrutika Samaakhya led by Gadar and Santosh enthralled the audience.

When contacted Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, preferred not to react on the allegations made against him at the meeting.

“It’s demeaning to comment on the trivial charges made by a former MPTC member,” the Congress MLA said.
