Tension over removal of buntings

MAHABUBNAGAR: Tense situation prevailed in Maktal town following removal of buntings of a community on Thursday. In connection with the festival people of a community decorated places of worship and other junctions with flags and buntings in the town last night.
Some unidentified youth removed some buntings.
Following this elders from both communities after informing the police about the incident organised a peace meeting.
Again in the afternoon some youth of a community expressing anger over the complaint made to the police burnt some of the buntings.However police led by DSP Naryanpet Hari Chander Rao and Circle Inspector Rama Rao held discussions with the elders of the both communities and brought the situation to normal.
It is said that police booked cases against 15 persons in this connection.
Police pickets were posted in the town, according to information reaching here.
