THANJAVUR: Five artistes from Thanjavur district have been selected for the awards given by the District Arts Society for the year 2007-2008 by a committee headed by Collector C. Vijayaraj Kumar. K. Kedarnath (vocal) has been selected for ‘Kalai Ilamani’ award, J. Gomathi, (Karakattam) for ‘Kalai Valarmani’ award, Rani Jaya (drama artiste) for ‘Kalai Sudarmani’ award, P. M. S. Somu Rao (Poikkal Kuthirai) for ‘Kalai Nanmani’ award and K.Thennavan (drama artist) for Kalai Mudumani award. They will get a cash award for Rs. 2,000 and a certificate and shawl each.
