SHIMLA: The Himachal unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has decided to launch State-wide protests against “rampant price rise and an extensive saffronisation drive undertaken by the Prem Kumar Dhumal government in the State”. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the party’s State secretary Rakesh Singha said the BJP, which had made the price rise an issue in the recent Vidhan Sabha elections, had itself failed in controlling it after coming to power. Doing a critical appraisal of the first 100 days of BJP rule in the State, he said edible oil prices had shot up by 33 per cent and bus fares by 25 per cent.
