MANGALORE: Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd. (MESCOM) has been rated the third best power distribution company in India after Madhya Gujarat Distribution Company and Torent. S. Sumanth, managing director of MESCOM, received the award — a bronze shield — which has been instituted by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, under a comprehensive award scheme for 2006-07, at a function in New Delhi on Thursday. A MESCOM press release here stated that with the development of distribution infrastructure, the the distribution loss had been brought down from 16.65 per cent in 2005-06 to 15.29 per cent in 2006-07 and 13.63 per cent by the end of December, 2007. .
