Winning against odds, tribulations
R. Ravikanth Reddy
HYDERABAD: Cycling nine km everyday to college wasn’t a pleasure for Kondaiah Nukathoti when his peers elsewhere were driving bikes and cars. But when it came to performance he zoomed past everyone with such style that he emerged as one of the two toppers chosen among 26,000 students in the JKCs.
The other topper Chintala Prasad had the small luxury of travelling in a bus but was always aware of his father pulling a rickshaw to see his son emerge as an engineer. Such poor background was never a hurdle for these engineers who are now placed with Wipro and Infosys with salary packages that were a dream for their parents. The icing on the cake was their felicitation by the Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in the presence of their parents at the IT summit held in the city on Thursday.
“It was an honour for our parents who never dreamt of such a felicitation for their wards,” they both said in unison. What makes these two toppers special is that both are first graduates in their families. Both want to work for a few years before going for higher studies.
