Puducherry
in support of their demand: Organising secretary of the AIADMK P.H.Pandian and secretary of the Puducherry unit A.Anbalagan (second from left), at a demonstration in Puducherry on Thursday. PUDUCHERRY: A large number of activists of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) staged a demonstration on Thursday, demanding immediate dismissal of the Congress government and imposition of President’s rule on the ground that the administration had become “inert,” owing to infighting in the Cabinet. Led by the organising secretary of the AIADMK P.H. Pandian and Puducherry unit secretary A. Anbalagan, the party functionaries also presented a memorandum to the Lieutenant Governor, highlighting the demand. The activists, who took part in the demonstration, carried placards with slogans such as “Don’t confuse the people of Puducherry”, “Dismiss the anti-people government” and “Let the Congress government quit as it has lost its moral authority to rule.” Addressing the activists, Mr. Pandian said the Congress government in the Union Territory had lost its moral authority to rule as it had failed to ensure parliamentary democracy, collective responsibility of the Ministry and accountability to the people.
