Rs. 2 kg rice scheme to start from April 7 CM edits certain slogans and simplifies them HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has instructed the officials of the Civil Supplies department to prepare a comprehensive report on the steps to be adopted for ensuring coordination among different departments for effective implementation of the Rs. 2 kg rice slated to start from April 7. At a review meeting on Thursday, the Chief Minister was ‘unhappy’ over the slogans and other campaign material designed by the department to create awareness among the people about the scheme. “How can the people understand the spirit of the scheme when the slogans are so complicated?” he asked. Donning the role of journalist for a brief while, he himself edited certain slogans and simplified them for easy understanding of the common man. Dr. Reddy stressed the need to implement the scheme in such way that there were no leakages and the benefits reached genuine beneficiaries. According to an official press release, Dr. Reddy said though the department would prepare road map by taking various factors into consideration, involvement of the people was the only way to plug loopholes. In this direction, he wanted the campaign to be taken up in local dialects.Civil Supplies Commissioner G.N. Rao and other senior officials were present.
