THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Special prayers, public meetings, rallies and cultural events marked the observance of Nabi Day in the city and district on Thursday. ‘The Prophet’s Vision for World Humanitarianism’ was the theme of the week-long campaign organised by the Thiruvananthapuram Milad-e-Sharif Committee that concluded here on Thursday. The Committee organised district-wide rallies to spread the message of humanitarianism. At Kesvadasapuram, Imam Panippra Ibrahim Baqavi led the celebrations, a press note issued here on Thursday said. Special Milad-e-Sharif programmes were organised at Attingal, Nedumangad, Kovalam and Kazhakkoottam. The Islamic Peace Movement of India celebrated Milad-e-Sharif as a day for protecting humanitarian values. A resolution passed by the Movement pointed out that the Prophet’s vision attained more relevance today. Imbibing the value of these was very important, it added. The State-wide inauguration of the celebrations was carried out by the State president of the organisation, Kazhakkoottam Najmuddin. Messages of harmonyMessages of friendship and solidarity were sent to temples and churches on Thursday. The inaugural message was handed over to the head of the Sreekrishna Ashramam, Nettayam, Swami Veepasprihananda by Mr. Najmuddin, the press note added.
