Amrita film awards announced

KOCHI: Mammootty and Meera Jasmine bagged the best actor and actress awards in the fourth Amrita Film Awards, instituted by Amrita Television, which were declared on Wednesday.

Mammootty won the award for his performances in the films Kayyoppu and Ore Kadal, while Meera Jasmine won it for her performances in Vinodayathra and Ore Kadal.

Arabikkatha directed by Lal Jose was adjudged the best film. Music maestro Dakshinamurthy and the late actor Gopi were chosen for special awards. Director – Shyamaprasad (Ore Kadal), Supporting Actor – Siddique (Nadiya Kollapetta Rathri, Alibai, Paradesi), Supporting Actress – Ramyakrishnan (Ore Kadal), Screenplay – Sreenivasan (Kadha Parayumbol), Music Director – Ouseppachan (Ore Kadal), Lyricist – Anil Pachooran (Arabikatha, Kadha Parayumbol), Singer (male) – K.J. Yesudas (Arabikatha), Singer (female) – Shweta (Vinodayathra, Ore Kadal, Ndeyam). Cinematographer – M.J. Radhakrishnan (Naalu Pennungal, Thakarachenda, Thaniye) Editing – Beena Paul (Kayyoppu), Art Director – Gireesh Menon (Nadiya Kollapetta Rathri, Paradesi), Makeup – Pattanam Rasheed (Paradesi), Costumes – S.B. Satheeshan (Naalu Pennungal, Big B).
