Security for Holi, Id and Good Friday
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: The police have tightened security in the city to ensure that no untoward incidents are reported while Holi, Good Friday and Id-Milad are celebrated on Friday.
To instil confidence in the public on the eve of the festivals, the police on Thursday staged flag march in sensitive areas of the city falling under East and West police divisions.
Personnel from the City Armed Reserve, Karnataka State Reserve Police, Central Reserve Police Force and Rapid Action Force took part in the flag march, Commissioner of Police Neelam Achutha Rao told The Hindu.
Additional forces
As special prayers would be offered at churches on the occasion of Good Friday, security was heightened at churches on Thursday night. Additional forces would be deployed in sensitive areas all over the city, Mr. Rao said.
Security and traffic plans had been drawn up for the Id-Milad processions.
Patrolling would be intensified on Friday and Saturday to keep a tab on Holi revellers, the Commissioner said.
He appealed to the Holi revellers not to splash colours on people without their consent.
Those fleeing revellers tend to speed, resulting in accidents, the Commissioner said.
Mr. Rao appealed to the public not to use colours containing hazardous chemicals.
