CPI (M) flays milk price hike

PUDUCHERRY: Secretary of the Puducherry unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) V.Perumal on Friday flayed the Puducherry Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union for its decision to hike the milk price by Rs.3.50 per litre.

In a statement here, he said the Milk Producers’ Union had increased the procurement price of milk only by Rs.2.33 per litre but it had steeply hiked the price of milk.

He asked the government to provide subsidy to the union so that the consumers were not affected even while ensuring that the milk producers got remunerative procurement price.
