Man dies in lightning strike

Kasaragod: A school teacher was killed when lightning struck him near Kumbla, about 10 km from here, on Thursday, police said.

Krishna Bhat (46), a teacher at the Government Higher Secondary School, was struck by lightning as he was returning home this evening, police said.

Bhat was declared brought dead at the government hospital here, they said.

In another accident, a youth was killed and three others were injured when the car in which they were travelling turned turtle at Kottath near here this evening.

The accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle lost control of the vehicle. The injured had been admitted to a hospital in Thalassery. — PTI
