KOLAR: “While the loan waiver scheme announced in the Union Budget was a welcome move, it is certainly not a panacea for the agrarian crisis haunting the country,” said Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha general secretary G.C. Bayya Reddy. Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, Mr. Bayya Reddy criticised the Congress for attempting to take political mileage from the loan waiver scheme. He said while allocation for irrigation was brought down to Rs. 411 crore from Rs. 454 crore, he wondered how it would help uplift the farming community. — Staff Correspondent
