Protest after death of patient

Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab): Enraged over the death of a patient allegedly due to medical “negligence”, residents of a village on Friday staged protest in front of a private nursing home here, blocking traffic by putting the body on the road.

The residents of village Fatehpur Jattan laid a siege to the nursing home and started shouting slogans. They were demanding registration of case against “negligent” doctors.

The relatives of the deceased Nirmal Singh told mediapersons that he complained of stomach pain on March 4 and was operated upon in a nursing home in Bassi Pathana the next day. After a few days his condition started worsening following which he was shifted to a hospital at Chandigarh where he died. The relatives claimed that the doctors at Chandigarh told them that the patient died due to the negligence on the part of medicos of the nursing home. -- PTI
