KGMO condemns transfer of doctors Says doctors could not be held responsible Kozhikode: The Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association (KGMOA) has said their ongoing non-cooperation agitation will not affect patient care in hospitals. A meeting of the association held in Kozhikode recently decided to intensify the agitation. Government doctors would continue to keep away from official meetings, camps, training programmes and VIP duties even though all care would be taken to ensure that patients’ interests were protected, KGMOA district secretary K. Venugopal said after a meeting here on Friday. The meeting also condemned the recent transfer of six doctors from the government district hospital near Kozhikode. It demanded withdrawal of the transfer orders in the interests of the patients. Association’s State president Manoj Narayanan reiterated the claim that the transfers were ordered for reasons the doctors could not be held responsible. ‘Address issues’He called upon the government to address the basic problems that hampered the smooth functioning of the hospital ‘instead of making doctors scapegoats.’
