Eight lives lost in rain

Thiruvananthapuram: Eight lives have been reported in the summer rain in different parts of the State in the last couple of days. Three deaths took place in Kozhikode and one each in the districts of Kasaragod, Kannur, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram and Kottayam. Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran has directed District Collectors to provide a financial assistance of Rs.1 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Eleven houses had been destroyed and 202, damaged. — Special Correspondent
