SP cautions people on borrowing

Staff Reporter

Kakinada: Superintendent of Police B. Sreenivasulu cautioned the people against borrowing from unauthorised moneylenders, which lands them in trouble. He stated in a press release that no person can do lending business without obtaining a license from the Government Department concerned and such persons would be dealt with sternly under the law. Any person who secures blank promissory notes from the borrowers is punishable under Sections 384 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code.

Those who dupe the gullible public in the name of chit funds attract penal action under the Andhra Pradesh Regulation of Depositors and Financial Establishments Act, 1999.
