Srikakulam
Srikakulam: All works in respect of 31 distributory of the Vamsadhara Right Main Canal (RMC) had been completed and water to about 7,000 acres would be available for the ensuing kharif season. Nine villages which included Yallapeta, Vavanipeta, Tulugu, Srikurmam would be benefited from the 31 distributory, according to a press release by the Revenue Minister, Dharmana Prasada Rao’s office here on Friday. The Pushkarani in Srikurmam where devotees visiting the pilgrim centre would have a holi dip would also get water from the RMC, the press release added. Development works with Rs.20 lakh were also being taken up at the pilgrim centre. The Minister who performed bhoomi pooja for the three Overhead Service Reservoirs (OSRs) at Adivarapupeta, A.S.N. colony and Bakarsahempeta on Friday said this would go a long way in permanently solving the drinking water problem of people of Srikakulam municipality. The three OSRs form part of Rs.21.50 crore comprehensive drinking water scheme sanctioned for Srikakulam municipality. Later the Minister inaugurated acc road in Arasavilli. Municipal chairperson, M.V.Padmavathi was present.
