Rs. 3 lakh collected as fine

The Southern Railway authorities imposed fine totalling Rs 3.12 lakh on passengers travelling without proper tickets and un-booked luggage during a three-day drive from March 17.

According to a release, under the supervision of the Divisional Commercial Manager, Chennai Division, about 90 members of the ticket checking organisation and 30 Railway Protection Force personnel conducted the drive in all suburban trains and mail/expresses, in which, a total of 1,339 offenders were booked and fine collected from them.
