Talk on remote sensing in fisheries
Forum for Fisheries Professionals organized a scientific talk on “Remote sensing and its applications in fisheries” at the Fishing Harbour on Thursday.
Scientist-in-Charge of Central Institute of Fisheries Technology Imam Khasim stressed the importance of remote sensing in making fishing more economic. U. Sreedhar, Senior Scientist, CIFT, presented the origin of remote sensing, its history and the remote sensing data available.
He described the process of generation of satellite chlorophyll images and sea surface temperature images and explained the validation experiments carried by CIFT and Space Application Centre, Ahmedabad.
Andhra Pradesh Mechanised Boat Operators’ Association president P.C. Appa Rao, senior scientists B. Madhusudan Rao and G. Rajeswari participated.
