6 arrested in murder case

CHENNAI: A special team of police on Friday arrested six persons in connection with the murder of a cashewnut trader in Kothwalchavadi market on Tuesday.
According to the police, the victim, Sreenivasan, and one of the accused Murali’s brother, Prakash, were engaged in selling cashewnut. Prakash had incurred huge loss in the business and unable to repay a debt of over Rs.14 lakh, committed suicide sometime ago.
Murali and another cashewnut trader Sasi had pestered Sreenivasan to repay the money that he owed to Prakash. When Sreenivasan refused, the duo, with the help of a few of their friends, allegedly murdered him. The five persons were nabbed at Broadway bus stand and the weapons used for the murder seized. The others who were arrested were identified as Santosh Kumar, Babu, Sanjay and Raghu.
