Three held
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI: Police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder of Kanniappan, a temple priest in Teynampet, in April 2006.
Kanagaraj and Sathish Kumar, residents of West Mambalam, were arrested on Wednesday and Jagadeesan, a resident of Teynampet, on Thursday.
According to police, Kanniappan and 30 other families lived on a three-ground plot belonging to Thanthoni Nayakkar of Kancheepuram. Since the families did not vacate the land, the latter had allegedly hired the three accused and a fourth person, Kaviarasu, to kill Kanniappan. Kaviarasu was remanded to custody for some other crime.
