Music album of Kalam’s poems released

New Delhi: A music album of six poems penned by the former President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, was released here on Friday by film actor Anil Kapoor.

“I am here as a music lover, and the poems of Dr. Kalam are not ordinary poems, they should be weighed in gold. His poems are a delight to hear,” Mr. Kapoor said, while releasing the album “Kalam: Six Inspiring Poems for Young India,” sung and composed by Mohit Chauhan.

Inspired

Mr. Chauhan said he was inspired by the beautiful vision of the former President and felt that the poems and their message must reach to the public. “Kalamji is a great visionary, one of the finest and a very charming personality and I am deeply honoured to release the songs based on his poems.”

The six poems depict different moods and visions of Dr. Kalam. “My Dear Soldiers” is a tribute to the soldiers guarding the borders of our country. Similarly, “Whispers of Jasmine” shows the nature-loving side of the former President.

“My friend had gifted his poem “Vision” and the poem so inspired me that I decided to sing it in a television programme and the former President liked it very much,” Mr. Chauhan said.

“Mr. Kalam greeted me by quoting my song, ‘Dooba-Dooba’,” he said. “I asked the former President for permission to his poems, which he allowed,” Mr. Chauhan added. — PTI
