NEW DELHI: Two men allegedly involved in the kidnapping and murder of Central Research Institute of Ayurveda director T. Bikshapati have been arrested by the Delhi police. According to the police, Mahesh Gupta and Neeraj Bindal were arrested following their alleged confession of involvement. The police have recovered a TVS scooty which the CRIA director had used to reach Mahesh’s shop, the Hyundai Santro car of Neeraj that was used to dispose of Mr. Bikshapati’s body, and the victim’s clothes at the instance of the accused. On March 9, the wife of Mr. Bikshapati, a resident of Madhuban Enclave in Punjabi Bagh, lodged a complaint with the police saying her husband had gone missing. A case of kidnapping was registered at the Punjabi Bagh police station and investigations were taken up. During interrogation, Mahesh allegedly told the police that Mr. Bikshapati had befriended him two years ago when he had gone to the centre for medicines. The CRIA director then began visiting Mahesh’s house at Sultanpuri. However, Mr. Bikshapati, who was regarded as a father figure by Mahesh’s family, began harassing his sister, the police said, adding that he also pressurised her to marry him. In January this year, Mahesh’s sister informed him about the director’s unwanted overtures. Mahesh got annoyed and began planning revenge, the police said. As per plan, Mahesh called Mr. Bikshapati to his shop on March 9 to discuss something. The director reached there on his scooty and during a discussion talked about marrying Mahesh’s sister. This enraged Mahesh who allegedly beat him up and then strangled him. Subsequently Mahesh removed Mr. Bikshapati’s clothes and put his body in Neeraj’s car. He then dumped the body in the Najafgarh drain. Efforts are now on to fish out the body.
