Burglars make off with gold ornaments Crime notes

Bangalore: Burglars made away with gold jewellery worth Rs. 1 lakh from a house at Mariyappanapalya in Rajajinagar police station limits early on Friday. The police said miscreants took away gold jewellery and a mobile phone from the house of Veena while she was asleep.

Suffer burns

Two persons suffered burns in a fire following a LPG cylinder leak at a house in Chennammana Kere Achukattu police station limits on Thursday.

According to the police, the fire started when Lakshmi (18) switched on the light in the kitchen unaware of the gas leak. Lakshmi’s relative Jayachandra (25) who came to her rescue also suffered burns. Both have been admitted to Victoria Hospital and they are said to be recovering.

In another incident, a 35-year-old woman suffered burns in an accidental fire at her house at Guttepalya in Siddapura police station limits on Thursday. The police gave her name as Shahataaz Begum. The police said Begum’s husband Syed had taken a loan of Rs. 20,000 from Arab Ali. On Thursday, Ali came to Syed’s house and asked him to return the money. In the argument and fist-fight that followed, a kerosene can fell on a stove and Shahataaz suffered burns. She was taken to Victoria Hospital, the police said.

Body found

An unidentified body was found in a pond near Kanteerava Stadium on Thursday. The Sampangiramanagar police have registered a case.

Two hurt

An accident during a traffic jam on Lalbagh Road made people resort to a snap protest near Al-Ameen College on Friday. Two persons on a scooter were injured when their vehicle was hit by a bus. According to the police, the accident occurred when the scooter rider was manoeuvring through the traffic that was moving slowly because of the religious processions in the city.
