DHARWAD: The Associate Director of the Department of Public Instruction, M.S. Patil, has said that parents should encourage children to develop their inherent talents. He was speaking after releasing the souvenir “Martyr Bhagat Singh and freedom struggle of 1857” and honouring meritorious and talented students here recently. Eleyara Balaga Vedike and Karnataka Rajya Secondary Shikshaka Sangha had jointly organised the programme. Mr. Patil said that identification of the inherent talents and encouragement would help children in specialising in the field of their interest. Releasing the book “Suvarna Karnataka Sambhramadalli Makkala Sahitya”, writer Shivanand Sindhanakera underscored the need for children to have freedom fighters as their role models. Presiding over the function, M.G. Sindhagi called upon the students to involve in nation-building activities. In the “Pratibha Pradarshana” held later, Vidyaranya High School, Vidyaranya Primary School and Presentation Primary School won the first three prizes. In the individual category, Akshay Kulkarni, Anmol Gudageri and Sindhu Shetty were awarded the first three prizes. President of the vedike S.B. Kadakoladavar made introductory remarks. Over 100 students were given participation certificates.
