Bangalore: The Cubbon Park police on Thursday arrested three government officials, including an administrative officer, working with the Karnataka Minority Development Corporation on charges of fraud and cheating. The police identified them as M.D. Ramadas, administrative officer, and R.L. Narasimha Murthy and K.L. Shivanandiah, first division assistants. Their arrest followed a complaint by N. Aslam, who bought an autorickshaw with a loan taken from the corporation. The complainant said the three pressured him to buy spare parts and petrol from outlets specified by them. When he refused to oblige, the three reportedly created a fake document stating that Mr. Aslam had sold his autorickshaw to one Abdul Sharif. The police are investigating more such cases in which they suspect the accused might be involved. In another case, the Sampangiramnagar police have arrested a person who allegedly withdrew Rs. 2.9 lakh from a private bank using a stolen cheque. Police identified the suspect as Sagarkumar Suttar, a native of Orissa. They said Suttar, who was working for Berry Fabrics till he resigned two months ago, had stolen a cheque from the firm and withdrawn Rs. 2.9 lakh from the ICICI Bank branch on Commissariat Road here on March 18.
