New proposal for school buildings

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government has offered to construct new buildings for government schools presently being run in rented premises if philanthropists give land free of cost for the purpose. Education Minister Kalicharan Saraf, announcing this in the State Assembly over the weekend, said his department would take all measures for maintenance and upkeep of school buildings. Besides, the vacant posts of teachers will be filled up and new streams of education approved in the schools.

Referring to the condition of school buildings in Jodhpur, Mr. Singh said Rs.73 lakh of the Rs.78.72 lakh sanctioned for repairs of school buildings in the city in 2006-07 had been spent. A budget of Rs.24.75 lakh was also sanctioned separately for primary and middle schools and the repair work was launched through the Public Works Department.
