Dharmapuri: The Annual Credit Plan for Dharmapuri district for 2008-09 envisages a bank loan projection of Rs. 628.84 crore, which is an increase of Rs. 84.28 crore (16 percent) over last year’s plan, Collector P. Amudha has said. Releasing the plan at the district consultative committee meeting here on Friday the Collector said that out of the total outlay the agriculture sector alone would get a lion’s share of Rs. 453.47 crore forming 72 per cent of the credit outlay. Assistant General Manager, NABARD, S. Ganesan received the first copy. The projection for industries was Rs. 42.95 crore, which constitutes 21 per cent of the total outlay. An amount of Rs. 132.43 crore would be allocated for retail trade, small business, self-employment schemes, transport, housing loan and education loans etc. Commercial banks, including Pallavan Grama Bank, have planned to disburse Rs. 581.98 crore (92.54 per cent) of the total plan. Similarly, cooperative banks have planned to disburse Rs. 42.86 crore respectively. Ms. Amudha said that the deposit of all commercial banks as on December 31, 2007, was Rs. 646.37 crore. The CD ratio at 123 was one of the highest in the State. Advances to agriculture was Rs. 499.67 crore constituting 59 per cent against the government target of 18 per cent. Priority sectorSimilarly, priority sector accounts for Rs. 722.72 crore forming 85 per cent against the target of 40 per cent. The assistance for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, small and marginal farmers was Rs. 359.12 crore constituting 42 per cent of the total outlay.
