Panchkula: Pakistani batsman Hasan Raza struck an unbeaten 98 as Lahore Badshahs continued its winning run, crushing Mumbai Champs by 50 runs in a Twenty20 match of the ICL here on Friday. Raza’s knock, which came off just 52 balls, helped his team post a mammoth total of 187 and it was always going to be an uphill task for the Champs, which has tasted just one win in the tournament so far. Raza’s knock, the highest so far in the tournament, was studded with 10 boundaries and four sixes. At the end of Raza’s blitzkrieg, even former Australian pacer Michael Kasprowicz could not save his reputation and he ended with figures of 4-0-52-0. After electing to bat first, Badshahs’ opener Imran Farhat gave the side a solid start despite the loss of two quick wickets at the other end. He struck 40 from just 25 balls. In reply, Champs’ openers Robin Morris (1) and skipper Nathan Astle (12) were out cheaply. Barring S.N. Khanolkar’s 28 and J. van der Wath’s 33, none of the other Champs batsmen really looked like taking on the challenge. In the end, they could only manage 137 for seven with Naved-ul-Hasan scalping three wickets for the Inzamam-led Badshahs, which now has four wins from an equal number of matches. The scores: Lahore Badshahs 187 for five in 20 overs (I. Farhat 40, Hasan Raza 98 n.o., R. Khirid two for 24) bt Mumbai Champs 137 for seven in 20 overs (S. Khanolkar 28, K. Powar 23, R. Khirid 20 n.o., van der Wath 33, Naved-ul-Hasan three for 17, Mushtaq Ahmed two for 25). — PTI
