Bankura: It is not loan but over-production that forced a farmer in West Bengal to make an attempt to commit suicide in Bankura district on Saturday . The police said a farmer took pesticide to end his life as he was not getting proper price for his crop---potato at Bistupur. His family members, however, could manage to take him to a hospital where he was battling for life, the police said. Over-production of potato reduced its market price forcing many cultivators to sit for distress sale in the area, official sources said .
