Being organised in Cuttack after a gap of some 38 years It will continue till March 30 CUTTACK: The National Book Trust (NBT) Book Fair was inaugurated here at Baliyatra ground on Saturday evening amid presence of hundreds of literary persons and students. The fair inaugurated by State Higher Education Minister Samir Dey would continue till March 30. NBT is organising the Cuttack Book Fair as a part of its golden jubilee year celebrations after a gap of some 38 years. NBT bosses Nuzrul Hussain and Bipan Chandran were present at the inaugural ceremony of the fair, which is being jointly organised by the Union Human Resources Development ministry and the Orissa Publishers and Book Sellers Association. Many local and outside publishers, including Kendra Sahitya Academy, have set up 50 stalls at the Book Fair. NBT also released Bhagabati Charan Galpamala, the first-ever complete collection of short stories written by Bhagabati Charan Panigrahi. The book edited by Bijay Kumar Satpathy features a collection of original stories written by Panigrahi (1908-1943). The anthology has many sensitive tales in Oriya literature. Basing on the lifestyle of the rural people. The book was released as an honour to the writer on his birth centenary year. Entry to the fair is free and it would remain open from 2 pm to 9 pm everyday, say the organisers. The premises would also stage cultural and literary meetings everyday.
