Rahul Dravid visits school

CHENNAI: It was a dream come true for 29 students of Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School when they received scholarships from ace Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid on Saturday.

Mr. Dravid presented them with cash prizes and scholarship awards worth Rs.18 lakh at a function organised at the school premises in Mogappair. The school had formed Young Olympians Association to identify talented students and impart training for them to succeed in their fields.

The students had won prizes and medals in various events such as chess, swimming and volleyball at the national and international level.

Last year, former cricketer Kapil Dev visited the school and gave away prizes to students.
