4 Holi revellers drown

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Two Holi revellers drowned in a pond at Manikonda village in Raidurg police station area on Saturday.

S. Anjaneyulu, 22, along with his elder brother S. Nagaraju and friend Venkata Swamy, 25, went to a pond at Manikonda to have a bath after celebrating Holi. None of them knew swimming.

Anjaneyulu entered the pond first. He slipped into deep waters and started shouting for help when Swamy came to his rescue. “Struggling to catch some support, Anjaneyulu held Swamy’s hands and both of them eventually got drowned,” Raidurg police station Inspector K. Ganga Reddy said.

Both the victims hail from Mahabubnagar district. Two tenth standard students, who went to Pariki tank at Allwyn Colony of Kukatpally for bathing after celebrating Holi, got drowned in it.

Sai Chand Goud, 17, and Sai Raj, 16, were students of Bapuji High School.
