Anti-corruption unit in place for ICL

HYDERABAD: The conflict may be on between the Indian Cricket League and the Indian Premier League. But, the organisers of both the versions are keen to implement all rules of the ICC for conducting any event of such magnitude.
And, not surprisingly, every cricketer in the on-going ICL at Lal Bahadur Stadium and at the other two venues will be covered under the gamut of the Anti-Corruption Officers, with Howard Beer in-charge in the city.
“Well, this is only a precautionary measure and not that we are suspecting anything on the lines of match-fixing,” Howard insists in a chat with The Hindu on the sidelines of the ICL here.
The fact that this former Victorian police official is a no-nonsense official is evident by the way he clears everyone in the periphery of the players’ pavilions.
