Ebullient: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad celebrating Holi at his residence in Patna on Saturday.

PATNA: It was a day of colours and revelry at Railway Minister Lalu Prasad’s residence on the occasion of Holi here on Saturday.

Initially, supporters had to virtually drag Mr. Prasad out of his room. Some of them tore apart his kurta to make him revert to his ebullient self.

This made him shed his inhibitions and he got into the act, making them endure the same experience. Quite a few lost their shirts.

His intonations in Bhojpuri were greeted with enthusiasm. Bhojpuri folk singers accompanied by drummers joined in the festivities.

The hundreds who were let in made a dash for the small swimming pool soaked in colour and then greeted their leader with colours.

The Railway Minister preferred only water colours dissuading his supporters from using chemical ones.

His wife and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi treated the revellers to sweets.

Mr. Prasad’s next door neighbour, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar did not celebrate the festival on account of his wife’s death last year.
