BANGALORE: “Vote Bengaluru,” an initiative of like-minded NGOs in Bangalore, has said that errors in the voters’ list were not only due to missing or bogus names, but also a result of fundamental anomalies, which should be rectified before the Assembly elections. Addressing presspersons here on Friday, Kathyayini Chamaraj of Civic Bangalore said “Vote Bengaluru” and several residents welfare associations had carried out an analysis of the electoral rolls published on January 1 and February 18 of select polling booths. ErrorsFurther, residents welfare associations that checked the corrections in the voters’ list reported that the fundamental errors had not been set right, she added. “The study showed fundamental anomalies that the polling booth is not geographically unique, which means that the same roads or portions of roads appear in different polling booth areas (PBA) and often the PBA does not encompass a geographically contiguous area. The map that accompanies the PBA is neither geographically accurate nor drawn to scale. These three anomalies are causing most of the confusion,” she said. As the PBA was not geographically accurate, she said it would be impossible for any enumerator to identify the area he had to cover.
