Thousands turn up for Hubbu Rasool

Special Correspondent

KOCHI: Thousands of Muslims from across the State attended the Hubbu Rasool conference, an evening of prayers and preaching, held at the international stadium here on Sunday.

Hubbu Razool (meaning ‘Love to the God’s Messenger,’ the Prophet Mohammed) is being held as part of the Prophet’s birth anniversary celebrations.

Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker opened the conference. A host of speakers highlighted the need for the faithful to love the Rasool and to follow his teachings in their day-to-day lives. The faithful sang songs in honour of the Prophet Mohammed.

Panakkad Shihab Thangal, Indian Union Muslim League president, who was to have addressed the conference, did not show up. The conference was billed as the first public meeting to be jointly addressed by Panakkad Thangal and Kanthapuram Aboobacker.
