Train mows down man

FEROKE: A man who tried to cross a railway track was mowed down by a speeding train at Vadakkumbad near here on Sunday.

Thayyil Mohammed Ashraf, 39, was hit by the Intercity Express.

The driver stopped the train and came out searching for the victim.

Local people joined the search and found Ashraf lying in a nearby drain. His legs were severed.

He died on the way to the Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode. He was the breadwinner of a five-member family.

The funeral will take place at Vadakkumbad Juma Masjid graveyard on Monday afternoon.
