PUDUCHERRY: General secretary of the All India Congress Committee V. Narayanasamy on Sunday criticised the Puducherry unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI) for demanding the resignation of Health Minister E. Valsaraj and Education Minister M.O.H. F. Shahjahan following registration of cases against them. Mr. Narayanasamy told reporters here that being a “responsible alliance partner,” the CPI should not have rushed to the media calling for the resignation of the Ministers. He had already taken up the issue with CPI national secretary D. Raja, Mr. Narayanasamy said, adding that the cases against the Ministers were “politically motivated” . He also said that he would initiate a discussion in the coming meeting of the Congress Legislative Party about the cases “foisted” against the Ministers.
