Special Correspondent

SHIMOGA: A pall of gloom descended on the Elephant Camp at Sakrebylu, about 12 km from here, following the death of Kunti, an 87-year-old elephant and the oldest member of the camp, on Friday.

The animal died at Emmegundi forest area after a prolonged illness. It was under going treatment for the last one month. The elephant was cremated in the presence of the forest officials and local people. Kunti was brought to the camp in 1972 from the Kakanakote forest area.
