‘Ranga Panchami’ will be celebrated on Tuesday Restrictions on movement of vehicles HUBLI: The Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissionerate has made elaborate security arrangements in Hubli for “Ranga Panchami” celebrations scheduled for Tuesday. Apart from deploying additional forces at strategic places, the police will install close-circuit cameras at nearly 50 sensitive localities in the city. Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner Narayan Nadamani told The Hindu that people had been cooperative especially with regard to maintaining peace in the twin cities. However, as a precautionary measure certain restrictions had been imposed to prevent miscreants from creating trouble, he said. Three Deputy Commissioners of Police would be monitoring the security arrangements, he said. One platoon of Rapid Action Force, 12 platoons of Karnataka State Reserve Police, 10 platoons of City Armed Reserve Police and 200 home guards would be deployed in addition to a posse of police personnel and officials of Hubli-Dharwad, he said. Meanwhile, the Commissioner has imposed prohibitory orders in the following sensitive areas under Kamaripet and Kasabapet police station limits on Tuesday from 6 a.m. to midnight. The areas are Kalammana Agasi to Dakappa Circle, Dakappa Circle to Kaulpet mosque, Kaulpet to KEB office cross, Kasabapet Police Station main road to Padadayyana Hakkala cross and up to Ahmednagar mosque, and Tulaja Bhavani cross to Pendar galli small mosque and big mosque. In a release, the Commissioner has appealed to the revellers not to use loudspeakers and beat drums after 10 p.m. The Police Commissioner has also imposed restrictions on movement of vehicles in view of the procession to be taken out as part of the celebrations on Tuesday. In a release, he has said that vehicles coming from Bangalore side will have to enter Hubli city via Gabbur bypass and Tarihal bridge interchange. Vehicles going towards Bangalore from Hubli and from Gadag and Navalgund will have to take Hosur Cross, Gokul Road and Tarihal bridge interchange route. Stoppages of the State road transport corporations buses and city buses have been provided at Indira Glass House and near IT Park, he has said. Vehicular movement will be banned on roads leading to Kittur Chennamma Circle including Lamington Road and Club Road, and no vehicles will be allowed from Pinto Point to Desai Circle.
